DSRSG 2004 Images

Return to MallinCam TM Homepage

All the images below were produced from video recorded on the night of October 15, 2004 at the Deep South Regional Stargaze. A 17.5" f/4.58 AstroSystems TeleKit with ServoCAT drive system and MallinCam PRO Video CCD Oberservational System were employed to both view all these objects "live"on the screen of a 7" portable DVD player and to record the camera's output onto Hi-8 videotape using a Sony camcorder. The Hi-8 videotapes were copied to DVD, and the DVD segments for each object were converted to AVI files. The AVI files were reduced in size by deleting duplicate frames, and the "decimated" AVI files were processed using RegiStax to produce the images in the album.

The MallinCam PRO camera used for these images was limited to an exposure length of 2.1 seconds; unlike the MallinCam B&W HYPER which is capable of 12 second exposures. It also did not have any cooling mechinism to help reduce warm pixels; unlike the MallinCam B&W HYPER which has a Peltier cooler intergrated into the camera.
